Defend yourself at the Small Claims Court
If you have been sued in a small claims court in Ontario, you will likely need to defend yourself against the claim. You have only twenty (20) days from the day you receive the Plaintiff’s claim to prepare, serve, and file your defence.
If you fail to file a defence or to do so within the required time limit, a judgment can be made against you without your participation. It is therefore important to act quickly to preserve your rights.
